A Legacy Etched in Stone -
The Hallett Family Story

The Hallett family's dedication to stonemasonry began in the late 1800s with William Frank Hallett, a skilled craftsman from Adelaide. His passion for creating beauty from stone has been passed down through generations, with Wayne Hallett carrying the torch as a fourth-generation Master Monumental Stonemason. The Hallett family’s commitment to excellence is evident throughout Melbourne, regional Victoria, and across Australia. Their exquisite work graces cemeteries, churches, commercial buildings, and even private homes.

Key Dates - 1887, 1910, 1989, 2024

The business began in 1887 as F. Hallett & Son, operating from a small Flinders Lane workshop near the old Herald office. In 1910, it moved to Bridge Road in Richmond, and in 1989, expanded to larger premises at 280 Mahoneys Rd, Thomastown.

In 2014, Wayne Hallett felt it was time to begin a new chapter of his own. Honouring his family’s long tradition while building something distinct, he established Hallettstone Memorials. Though no longer part of F. Hallett & Son, Hallettstone reflects generations of knowledge, skill and care, with Wayne’s personal commitment to helping families create meaningful, lasting tribute for their loved ones.
